How to create VAST audio ads in AdButler

We highly recommend that you use VAST 2.0 ad items to create VAST audio ads as our implementation of VAST 4.2 is still in alpha.

  1. Go to the section of the relevant VAST campaign (Advertisers > Your Advertiser > Your VAST Campaign).

  2. Click + Add Ad Item at the top right of the VAST Ad Items table. The Add VAST Ad Item window will appear.

  3. Click VAST 2.0. The New VAST Ad page will appear.

  4. In the Summary tab, give the VAST ad item a name and add a click through link.

You can test the link by clicking Open Destination URL.
  1. Add one or more metadata tags to the ad item. (optional)

  2. Enter the ad item's weight. This defaults to 1.

  3. Click on the Linear Media tab.

  4. Enter the audio file's duration.

  5. Choose whether to disable ad skipping or to allow it after your desired duration or percentage of the ad has played.

  6. Enter any additional ad parameters and the corresponding ad encoding. (optional)

  7. Under Linear Media Files, select the audio file from the Media Library, upload it from your device, or enter the URL of its online source.

  • If the audio file is from the Media Library or from your device, you do not need to configure the Media Source fields.

  • If the audio file is from an online source, you must configure its size and MIME type:

Creating a VAST 2.0 audio ad in AdButler

i. Under Size, enter non-zero values for the ad's width and height.

We understand that these fields are irrelevant to audio files, but please bear with us while we work on a more streamlined and permanent process.

ii. Under MIME Type, select Other (specify) then enter the audio file's MIME type in the field that appears.

Make sure that the audio file's format is supported and that its filename is valid. For more information, read VAST File Recommendations.
  1. Click Advanced Options if you need to specify other settings, such as the bitrate or codec.

  2. Click on the Tracking Events tab then select one or more events to track alongside their parameters. (optional)

You can send the same event to multiple URLs, but you have to make a separate entry for each URL.
  1. Click Save Ad Item.
